Filmation The hardy boys gold key comic issue #1 (1970)

Now here’s something new, a 4 issue gold key comic  based on the filmation cartoon “the hardy boys” (1969)

The cartoon is basically a more “serious” Archies or monkees where joe and frank hardy formed a band with 3 other characters Pete, chubby, and Wanda. The cartoon is..not great..it’s a “so bad it’s funny” at best, but poorly made and pretty damn racist at worst. there is a few things about this show that need to be noted, it’s the first Saturday morning cartoon that featured a black male character in a positive light (with Josie and the pussycats being the first cartoon to featured the first positive female black character), while being similar to scooby doo, it actually premiered first with scooby doo following up, they have 2 albums that I highly recommend more than show itself, and the show is actually considered lost media with no proper home release (unless you count bootlegs ofc).

With all that out of the way, let’s get into the comic!
